About Shelbia Hays-Coker
Shelbia is an author who focuses in on the heart of the stories she writes. She is passionate about storytelling and making her readers feel as though they have been transported to the worlds that she creates.
Her love for storytelling began at the age of seven when she stood in front of her grandmother and recited an original poem. From that moment on, it was clear that this girl was born to write. Piles of handwritten song lyrics, poetry, and manuscripts filled every available space, proof that her imagination refused to rest. Her literature professor saw her gift clearly, declaring it would be a disgrace if she didn’t pursue writing.
When she’s not crafting stories, you’ll find Shelbia curled up in the coziest corner of her in her home, a video game controller or book in her hands, with her beloved cats, Freya and Loki, snuggled close. She lives in the Tennessee Valley with her husband and an ever-growing To-Be-Read pile that seems to have developed a mind of its own… and it’s demanding sustenance.
Oddly Specific Things about me:
I love deep shades of green. It feels like being lost in a forest in the middle of the night, a full moon hanging in the sky, light streaming down through the foliage.
I do not like to travel. I would rather have a staycation than go somewhere new.
I have a very big, theatrical personality once I get to know someone.
My comfort movies are Knives Out, Crimson Peak, and Venom. I will not be explaining further.
I have a soft spot for shiny things like crystals, keys, and pocket watches. I keep a book box of them on my desk like a crow hoarding their stash.
